the start of something new.

I’ve sat here staring at this blinking cursor for a few minutes now. I always have so many ideas in my head and then when it’s time to write them down, things go a bit blank.

Maybe because this is my very first foray into something bigger and deeper than beauty blogging, posting my nail polish on Instagram, and sending flower crown pictures to my sister via Snapchat. I’m Victoria, and some of you may know me as the blogger behind the Beauty Out Loud blog. For the last four years, I’ve blogged there about makeup, nail polish, skincare, and haircare, as well as sharing my monthly beauty subscription boxes like Birchbox, Allure, and Glossybox. I’ve posted a few posts here and there about my non-beauty life over there, but I wanted something a bit more seriously devoted to all of the other things I find myself wanting to talk about.

So one Saturday I sat at my computer racking my brain: what would my new blog be called? Did I want to go with a cutesy fun concept, did I want to use some of the normal usernames I’ve had across the web for the last decade, or did I want to acknowledge my growth and my journey with this new name? Obviously if you picked answer C we are on the same wavelength, and after a few hilarious name iterations, vividly victoria was born.

Doing things vividly, for me, is being full of life, but also being realistic, striking, and distinct. As a realist and self-proclaimed “acquired taste” of a person, I thought this name fit well.

So this will be my new place to play. I’m sure I’ll combine my love of beauty with my love of all other things, but vividly victoria kind of feels like home already.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with me yet, here’s a bit of a rundown: I’m 29 and live in beautiful Columbus, Ohio. I work in analytics and have a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. I’ve been studying for the LSAT and hope to take it in October or December, and enter law school in the next year or so. I have two cats and a sweet boyfriend. You can usually find me obsessing over the perfect coffee, nail polish/makeup, Asian skincare, bullet journaling, and fountain pens.

Nice to meet you. 🙂 Hope to see more of you soon.
